Qianchuan Wood Industry Group is about to sign a tourism industry investment agreement with the People's Government of Lushan County.
A county with a history of 2,300 years, once a hub on the Southern Silk Road and an important node on the Ancient Tea Horse Road; a county with less than 120,000 people, yet incredibly home to two world records: the world's largest inhabited funnel-shaped landform and the world's longest conglomerate karst cave.
This place is Lushan County in Ya'an, China.
This was once the fiefdom of the famous Three Kingdoms general Jiang Wei and a post station for the talented Sima Xiang who was sent on a mission to the Western Regions. Since its establishment as a county in the Qin dynasty, Lushan has been renowned in China for its Han dynasty cultural relics: Fan Minque and stone carvings, Pingxiang Tower, the main hall of Qinglong Temple... Among them, the county museum houses over 9,000 artifacts, with Han dynasty stone beasts accounting for more than 50% of similar relics nationwide. Thus, Lushan has truly become the "Hometown of Han Dynasty Relics," praised by experts and scholars both domestic and abroad as the "Spirit of Han."
However, in today's booming national tourism industry, where many man-made "natural" and "famous" attractions are overcrowded, Lushan, blessed by nature, still remains in the awkward position of being "hidden away and unknown."
According to tourism industry experts, Sichuan tourism was previously dominated by four main clusters: Jiuzhai-Huanglong, Qingcheng-Dujiangyan, Wolong-Siguniang Mountain, and Meishan-Leshan-Emei Mountain. As the popularity of these attractions "ages," the Ya'an-Liangshan corridor, with its excellent ecological environment, unique geographical location, colorful folk life, and rich historical culture, is set to become the future focus of Sichuan's tourism industry.
Against this backdrop, in 2010, Lushan County proposed a strategy to "focus on the Chengdu-Chongqing economic zone, the Chengdu metropolitan area, and the secondary hub in western Sichuan; accelerate transportation connectivity; strengthen industrial cooperation; speed up mindset transformation; highlight complementary advantages; showcase regional characteristics; enhance regional integration; and vigorously implement 'tourism-driven county development.'"
In September 2012, Lushan County's tourism industry welcomed a new opportunity for development. Qianchuan Wood Industry Group and the Lushan County People's Government reached an intention investment agreement on tourism development, which was to be formally signed at the 13th China Western International Expo. At that time, Qianchuan Wood Industry Group planned to invest 1.5 billion RMB in two major projects: the construction of the "International Root Carving Cultural and Art City" and the development of the "Longmen-Weita" geological park, based on actual conditions and project scale.
As a well-known enterprise originating from Ya'an Lushan, giving back to the homeland and repaying the hometown has always been the wish of Mr. Luo Zhengren, Chairman of Qianchuan Wood Industry Group. Before signing the agreement, Mr. Luo invited domestic and international experts and scholars several times to return home for investigation and demonstration. To this end, the "Lushan Project Investment Center" was specially established, organizing cultural scholars, geological experts, and tourism industry specialists multiple times to conduct on-site inspections and analyses in Lushan.
