So this is how I can live—Li Cong, painter at the coating workshop of Qianchuan Wooden Doors Central China Base

If the state of life is the result of choices and persistence, then choice is a kind of wisdom, and persistence is a kind of spirit. We cannot change the reality, but we can adapt to everything by changing our own state.
The meaning of life is not about how brilliant the achievements are; following your heart, persisting in doing every small thing well, and continuously improving is also not easy.
Li Cong, a frontline employee in the painting workshop of Qianchuan Wooden Doors' Central China base in Hubei, once felt confused. A relaxed and comfortable life, yet always felt something was missing. He said, "Before joining Qianchuan, I ran a small internet cafe. Life was easy, but I wasn't happy." Now, his internet cafe is managed by others, and he has started a new life at Qianchuan, earning a decent income every month. Although the work is busy and hard, it is full of hope: "I realized I can live like this," he described this life change.

A summer morning, passionate and beautiful, different moods bring different feelings. Li Cong said that now, "In the morning, as soon as I open my eyes, I feel it is very meaningful." Not only that.
He said, "At Qianchuan, I feel my days are fulfilling, with things to do every day."
He said, "At Qianchuan, I received care, with leaders personally guiding and teaching employees."
When talking about his gains, he paused slightly and smiled faintly. When the reporter asked if there were none, he became very serious and said, "Here, I found confidence." It seemed he had held back a lot of emotion before uttering the word "confidence." The reporter knew well that when a man openly shares the dignity he holds inside, it means he truly has confidence. There is a saying that confident women are the most beautiful, but in the reporter's view, confident men are the most charming. Li Cong's shining points are gradually radiating at Qianchuan, and it is believed that he will be more confident and calm in the future.
Along this bumpy road, Li Cong also had doubts and faced misunderstandings from friends and family, but there was always a voice inside urging him to persist. When talking about the root of all this, he opened up, wanting to share every bit of his journey with the reporter. At the same time, he hopes everyone can persist because he believes the development here will be very good. He believes a big part of this comes from his deep affection for the construction of his hometown.
At the beginning of the Rongyuan planning and construction, he had the idea of finding a job and working hard again. "Through searching in the park, I found that Qianchuan's construction scale was quite large. Plus, from my experience of decorating a house, I knew about Qianchuan and felt there would be great development space." So he resolutely chose Qianchuan. That was in May 2012, but it was still under construction, so he came to inquire from time to time. Finally, on December 14, the construction of Qianchuan Wooden Doors Central China base began. Talking about starting work, Li Cong laughed and said, "At that time, work started early, production equipment was not yet debugged, and staff had not arrived, so I acted as a cleaner, cleaning and waiting for new employees to join."
Li Cong said he started with sanding work. Because his technique was not skilled, he could only earn the minimum wage of 1500 yuan per month. "Many colleagues who started together left after a few days, one month, or three months. Even my wife said, 'Is this money enough for you?' Let alone supporting the family. Actually, it was quite hard at that time, and I began to hesitate." But in the end, he held on with the persistence deep in his heart.
Three months of sanding work helped him get rid of his previous bad habit of procrastination. He became more motivated in doing things. Finally, he thought he could try technical work and learn more skills, so he actively asked to do painting. He said that in the painting workshop, he received a lot of help from leaders and colleagues, especially the hands-on guidance from painting supervisor Chen Jun, which moved him deeply. Several senior employees also gave him selfless help and guidance. Everyone cared for and communicated with each other in life, creating a harmonious atmosphere.
"Leaders have strict requirements for us. Everyone hopes to do things well, but they also allow us to make mistakes and improve through errors," Li Cong said. "But more often, they encourage us continuously, even if there is only a tiny bit of progress every day." So he feels passionate about working here every day.
One day, Qianchuan Wooden Doors Deputy General Manager Zhang Shaoming saw the products he made and asked, "Well done, this young man has improved a lot. Who taught you?" "A master guided me," 30-year-old Li Cong joked, showing his wit and humor.
Saying a master guided him, it was probably more about his own relentless effort. Nothing is difficult in the world if you put your heart into it. Li Cong practices this motto with every action. He studies techniques and masters skills by working overtime.
He said that now he no longer hates working overtime as before, and many people in the company are willing to work overtime because the company has a new adjustment for performance: the more you do, the higher the reward. Moreover, sometimes it is also a sense of responsibility to finish things on time.
On the night of July 25, all staff were working overtime because a batch of goods had to be shipped the next day. At around 11 p.m., several doors were not finished. Everyone was tired and needed rest, but they encouraged each other, "Come on, we must finish today. Tomorrow there are other things to do." Finally, they finished the doors by 12:30 a.m.
When Li Cong talked about these things, his voice sounded calm and plain. Now, he has also become a master, leading apprentices to work together. He said he will teach his apprentices well, just like the senior workers who once taught him. This is not only a work assignment but also a deep sense of responsibility. He likes the current work team very much, "Our topcoat group has a great atmosphere. Everyone works unitedly and helps each other."
He is also willing to stay more in the factory and struggle together with everyone. Many times, he arrives at the workshop early at 6:30 a.m. to start work. Not only him, but other employees are also very active in working overtime. Facing the slowly rising morning sun, everyone shouts slogans together to boost the new day's work. "Now my wife says she sees me less and calls me 'coming in the wind and going in the rain.' My next plan is to bring my wife to work here too, so living in the company will be much more convenient."
Although busy and a bit tired, the gains are considerable. "In July, I should get more than 5,000 yuan in salary. The apprentices I lead will get 4,000 to 5,000. After this technical upgrade, in August, our output will further increase, so the prospects are quite good." He motivates himself like this. Indeed, you reap what you sow.
He used to be young, playful, and unwilling to endure hardships; now he has changed his old habits, becoming steady, diligent, striving for excellence, and working actively, earning high recognition from the company's leadership. When asked about his next plan, he frankly said, "Right now, it's about completing the tasks assigned by the leaders with quality and quantity, learning good skills, and considering advancing to a higher level if the opportunity arises." He strongly emphasizes the improvement of skills at the grassroots level, "Work is like building a house; only by laying a solid foundation can the house be built higher and more stable." Now, many colleagues who left before have returned after he conveyed the current development situation of Qianchuan to them. His persistence, time, and facts have proven to be of great value. As he said, he can't imagine living like this before, and now he lives with more confidence and calmness, while also being full of hope for the future.
A beautiful tomorrow and a happy future surely belong to Qianchuan family members like Li Cong, who persistently and diligently strive forward.
