Beauty Qianchuan — The Story of an Ordinary Cleaner Jiang Zhiqiong
In the early morning, you might encounter her in the lobby, on the stairs, or in some corner, either wiping tables with a towel or mopping the floor with a mop... But what impresses me most is that every afternoon she appears punctually in the office where the reporters are. Before entering, she always gently knocks on the door (whether it is closed or open). Every time I hand her the trash bin under the desk, she always smiles at you and softly says "thank you."
As a cleaner and an outstanding employee of Qianchuan, she has earned us a comfortable and clean working environment through her hard work. Jiang Zhiqiong is affectionately called "Sister Jiang" by everyone in the company. In her forties, she is slender but full of energy, works efficiently and neatly, and her hardworking figure is seen in every corner of the company. Every time, she carefully checks if the area under your desk is clean, and diligently cleans every inch of the floor, polishing every spot until it shines.

When coordinating with her for an upcoming interview, she shook her head vigorously and kept refusing, saying, "No need to interview me, I'm not outstanding, there's nothing worth writing about, please choose other important people."
Perhaps, in her heart, she only sees herself as a cleaner, but she does not realize that it is cleaners like her who maintain the current cleanliness and tidiness of Qianchuan. What she sweeps away is not only the dust of Qianchuan but also the loneliness in many people's hearts.
When she cautiously knocked on the door of Director Zhou Xingqi's office at the Brand Operations Center, she said, "Teacher Zhou, can you not interview me? I haven't contributed much to Qianchuan, I'm just a cleaner." "Yes, sweeping is just a job, but you sweep away our dirt. You are the first to see the cleanliness and freshness you create every day." Director Zhou's words also swept away the lack of confidence and anxiety buried in her heart. Her soul is noble; even if what she does is lowly as dust, from the dust blooms a sacred flower. In modern society, many people pursue material wealth and fame, looking down on humble laborers, even despising them. However, these unsung workers, through their hard labor, create a comfortable living environment for us. They do not appear on dazzling stages, but their figures appear at dawn; they do not wear shining jewels, but their heads have strands of silver; they do not speak grand words, but they silently sweat.
Recently, a saying has been circulating online: "You can see ten thousand officials not working in their offices, no big deal; but if you see a cleaner not working in their own area, then that's upsetting~"
When the reporter met her at the agreed time and place, she had no time to sit down for an interview. There was no choice; our interview took place amid her busy work—sweeping, mopping, wiping tables, waxing doors... she was busily at work!
May 16, 2007, is the day Sister Jiang came to Qianchuan. The reporter was surprised that after so many years, she could still recall the exact time she joined the company. She said, "That day was very important to me, a turning point in my life." Six years is neither long nor short, and this is the place where she has worked the longest. She previously worked in a food factory and also did street cleaning and landscaping maintenance. Finally, she joined Qianchuan through the introduction of a boiler worker here. Now, she and her husband go to work and come home together. For them, living in Gongping Town, Wenjiang District, this life is quite good. The money they earn each month is enough to support the family and raise their daughter. She said, "Being self-sufficient and supporting the family well is enough. After going to many places, Qianchuan is still the best; the people here are kinder."
The company's good atmosphere and mutual help among colleagues are deeply imprinted in her mind. She said the company's leaders are quite good. Whenever she has difficulties, she turns to the leaders and colleagues. Everyone cares for each other in work and life.
During a chat with General Manager Chen, the reporter learned that after the April 20 Lushan earthquake, the company organized employees to go to the frontline for rescue and disaster relief. Upon hearing this, Sister Jiang immediately found her and said, "Do you still need people? Let my daughter go with you to Lushan!" This gesture stunned General Manager Chen. At such a moment, a mother thought of the disaster area and wanted her only 18-year-old daughter to go with company employees to the dangerous earthquake epicenter. It was truly touching.
During the conversation, the reporter clearly felt her gratitude. She said, "People should be content and happy, not expect what doesn't belong to them. Doing the current work well is good enough. A simple life is the best; life can't bear great ups and downs." Saying this, she brought over a stool, skillfully stood on it, and seriously waxed the door, as if caressing lovely children—considerate and meticulous. She said that besides maintaining the office building's cleanliness, she waxes the doors once every six months and dusts them weekly so that visitors won't have a bad impression when they see or touch them. Because many people come and go daily, the stairs are cleaned several times a day, and rainy days are the worst.
A cleaner, as the name implies, is a worker who cleans the environment. In this process, they come into contact with things that everyone considers dirty and discarded, and they have to clean them by hand. For example, the restroom—sometimes some people only care about their own convenience and neglect hygiene. This is a frequent occurrence for them. Sister Jiang said, "We can't complain or blame anyone; these things really should be done by us. No matter how dirty, it must be cleaned."
Although life is hard, there is hope. Having a stable job and family together is simple happiness. Sister Jiang said, "Now I place all my hopes on my daughter, hoping she can learn more and live better. I regret not studying more." But it was later learned that Sister Jiang's education level is not low; she dropped out in the second year of high school due to illness and lost the chance to continue studying. For people of her generation, this was still quite good. To make up for her regret, she hopes her daughter can study more.
For the future, she plans to continue working at Qianchuan and has already gotten used to it. "When the day comes that I can't work anymore and Qianchuan doesn't need me, I'll go home." When she said this, I looked up at her waxing the door, standing on tiptoe, one hand holding the door frame, the other stretched high, wiping evenly with a focused expression. The reporter wanted to tell her, how could Qianchuan not need you? Qianchuan's bright reputation today is because of the best beauticians like you. Finally, she turned her head and said, "Honestly, if I really leave Qianchuan, I will really miss it. Life can't be all about money; some things money can't buy."
