China's Wood Industry Mourns the Loss of a Leading Figure; Qianchuan Wooden Doors Deeply Mourn Mr. Qu Piliang

Mr. Qu Piliang, a leading figure in China's wood products industry, passed away at 16:30 on August 14, 2015, after unsuccessful treatment, at the age of seventy-four.
This is very sad news for all Qianchuan people.
Mr. Qu Piliang, former chief engineer of Beijing Building Timber Factory, deputy secretary-general of the Flooring Committee of the China Timber and Wood Products Distribution Association, expert in the wooden doors and windows industry, and chief editor of the national standard "Wooden Doors and Windows." He participated in technical guidance for major national projects such as the flooring of the National Centre for the Performing Arts and the Great Hall of the People. He was a technical guidance expert for Qianchuan wooden doors and has long been concerned with and supported the growth and development of Qianchuan wooden doors. He dedicated his life to the wood products field and left many brilliant chapters.
With the passing of Mr. Qu Piliang, Qianchuan has lost a family member.
Luo Baitao, General Manager of Qianchuan Wooden Doors, posted a heartfelt tribute.
Yesterday, the days with Mr. Qu and Qianchuan are vivid in memory.
"In 2004, when the Wood Door Committee of the China Timber and Wood Products Distribution Association was established, I learned that there was a Qianchuan Timber Factory in Chengdu, Sichuan, Southwest China. Due to my professional sensitivity and location in the southwest, I always wanted to visit. Not long after, at the Chongqing meeting for drafting the national standard 'Wooden Doors and Windows,' I was invited by General Manager Luo of Qianchuan and had the honor to visit."

In 2009, Mr. Qu Piliang (fourth from right) visited Qianchuan for the first time.
At that time, the scale of Qianchuan's development and the enterprise spirit displayed left a very deep impression on Mr. Qu. Since his first visit to Qianchuan in 2009, Mr. Qu has always been very concerned about and supportive of Qianchuan's development, often providing technical guidance and advice, and visiting Qianchuan irregularly. He was a senior expert and scholar who cared deeply about enterprise development and the healthy development of the wood products industry.

On December 16, 2014, Luo Baitao, General Manager of Qianchuan Wooden Doors, was invited to Beijing for a special interview on CCTV's "Struggle" program. Mr. Qu Piliang participated as one of the observers. He had great expectations for Luo Baitao and Qianchuan Wooden Doors, stating that as a "second-generation door person," Luo Baitao would be the new hope of the industry.
Such an elderly man in his seventies still insisted on dedicating himself to the wood products career he loved, always caring about the industry's development direction and technological improvement. He has left us, but his spirit of diligent research and selflessness will influence generations of people in China's wood products industry.
At this moment, we mourn you with the deepest sorrow—Mr. Qu Piliang.
  May you rest in peace!
