Qianchuan Model Journey | Narrating the Han and Tang Dynasties, Coloring the Song and Ming Dynasties, Temporarily Bidding Farewell to the Scenery of Xi'an
Spring chill supports the slender willows, and warmth gradually brings forth flowers. Strolling in Xi'an is like a pilgrimage. The splendid and magnificent scenic spots are countless and indescribable. The densely packed modern skyscrapers and the ancient-style palaces and halls blend together in a wonderfully unique way, making us feel insignificant.
Today is the last day of the trip, and the weather in Xi'an is clear and mild. Our group greeted the morning light and toured the Ming City Wall of Xi'an. Stepping onto this city wall, which has a history of over 600 years and is one of China's most famous city fortifications, we felt like tiny specks in the vast sea of history.
After a thousand years, the ancient city wall still stands proudly. This wall, built with the spirit of the Qin and Han dynasties and the majesty of the Ming dynasty, has witnessed the rise and fall of the ancient city of Xi'an through the long course of history.
Now, in the morning glow of Chang'an, groups of people ride bicycles along the city wall. Our group paused at a corner of the wall, quietly admiring the ancient city wall.
The bricks, worn but not completely eroded by time, with their greenish hue, reveal the vicissitudes and profound history of the ancient capital of thirteen dynasties. Every green brick and stone beneath our feet carries the essence of that once flourishing empire.
As we paced along the wall, we couldn't help but imagine the battles and bloodshed that once took place here, and recall the victorious armies that passed through the city gates thousands of years ago.
Looking up again at the vast sky, the gate towers, corner towers, parapets, and battlements, even the most timid would feel a surge of heroic spirit and a desire to shout into the wind.
"Morning bells and evening drums do not reach the ears, the bright moon and solitary clouds hang long in the heart." Besides the ancient and solemn Ming City Wall, we also did not miss the lively Bell and Drum Tower Square. The Bell Tower is an axial building linking east and west, responding to north and south. The eaves curve upward at the four corners like birds spreading their wings, with bright pillars and corridors, exquisitely beautiful, giving a sense of ancient elegance.
Opposite the Bell Tower stands the Drum Tower. The Drum Tower uses dougong (bracket sets) construction, appearing majestic, solemn, and gracefully ancient. The two towers are affectionately called "sister towers" and "civil and military towers," perfectly representing the morning bell and evening drum, complementing each other.
Behind the Drum Tower is one of the representatives of Xi'an's local flavor, the Muslim Quarter. After visiting the Bell and Drum Towers, the Muslim Quarter is naturally not to be missed.
The Muslim Quarter is famous as a concentrated area of ethnic minority cuisine, featuring various halal eateries and a wide variety of snacks with authentic flavors. Dishes like sauerkraut fried rice, lamb stew with bread, spicy soup, and steamed rice cakes are dazzling and open up the palate, all filled with the lively atmosphere of everyday life.
This ancient capital with over 5,000 years of civilization, in this gentle spring light, is like an elderly person with white hair and bushy eyebrows, welcoming and seeing off guests, witnessing the changes of the stars over millennia. We toured garden ruins and tasted specialty snacks, feeling fully satisfied.
Unconsciously, this Qianchuan exemplary journey is nearing its end. Along the way, we saw mountains and waters and appreciated history. Xi'an has made us Qianchuan people linger and never want to leave! Xi'an, this city flowing with five thousand years of vicissitudes, with its ancient charm, has intoxicated countless people throughout history!
