"Working Like a Boss" First Prize Essay — Mindset Determines Success or Failure

After reading the company's distributed book "Work Like a Boss," others say that reading has three flavors: reading classics tastes like rice and grains, reading history tastes like delicacies, and reading the teachings of various schools tastes like sauces and pickles. This means that reading the Four Books and Five Classics is like eating staple food; reading classic histories is like tasting fine dishes and wine; and reading the philosophies of various schools is like savoring condiments in cooking. In other words, reading is both a necessity of life and full of flavor. The taste of poetry and books lasts long, and only by seriously understanding the profound content of poetry and books can one gain deep and lasting meaning.

"Work Like a Boss" seems to be just an ordinary inspirational book, discussing issues such as the life value reflected in work, the dedication of workplace elites, and the gains and sacrifices in career development. I believe many people have read this book or similar ones. When talking about workplace achievements, gains, passion, and dedication, they can speak endlessly and eloquently. However, doing well is better than speaking well. Understanding requires us to take action to be effective, and only with results can reading be useful. From my heart, in a short time, a superficial glance is not enough for me to grasp all the profound meanings in the book. I will only talk about one aspect of my feelings, that is, mindset.
Whether in life or work, mindset affects people's emotions and willpower, and also determines our work state and quality. Most of us work for our bosses, earning wages through labor to support our families. In work, many of us, even most, often hold an indifferent attitude, often hearing: "I work for the company, the company pays me, it's just an equal exchange. I won't do more, after all, I'm not working for myself, as long as it's acceptable." This idea of "I'm just working for the boss" is very common. In many people's eyes, work is just a simple employment relationship; doing more or less, doing well or poorly, doesn't mean much to oneself, as long as the requirements are met. Including myself, many times I have had this thought. After reading this book, I suddenly realized that this not only causes losses to the company but more importantly kills one's own initiative and creativity, which is of no benefit to the public or private and has far-reaching harm. Therefore, we should reshape our mindset, adjust our attitude, treat every work task as a new beginning, a new experience, a door to success, and bravely strive forward. Only then will we discover creativity we never knew we had. If we treat work like chicken ribs—tasteless to eat but a pity to discard—the result is often unwilling and reluctant work. Perhaps, as the book says, instead of passionately searching everywhere for the "ideal" company, it is better to pour your passion into the current company. Maybe here we can get the most important opportunity in our lives. So please love the company like a boss, like loving your own home, because we are working for ourselves, not just for the boss.
We spend six days a week working, so work is life, and life is work. Whether work is just a means of making a living or a reflection of life's value, I believe the book has made it very clear. Many times I have wondered, what is the purpose and meaning of work? Is it just to meet simple living needs? With only three years of work experience, maybe it's not enough to feel the hardships of work. Maybe meeting simple living needs is very important to me now, but what about five or ten years later? Should I think about why I still have to work so hard? Is struggling for a living a kind of pursuit? Is it just a longing and pursuit for a better quality of life? The book says that only those who regard work as a reflection of life's value can reach the peak of their career, change their life, change their destiny, and make outstanding contributions to society. In fact, this is true. We only have one life that gives us many missions. On the road of work, aren't we placing bets, with the principal being our life and time, which money cannot buy? Life and time are such precious things; isn't this part of realizing the meaning of life? Since it is part of realizing life's meaning, please take work seriously. Work absolutely deserves our full effort.
A famous person once said, sow a mindset, reap a thought; sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny. Perhaps a good mindset cannot be obtained overnight, but a good mindset can help you maintain composure when impulsive or disappointed, so that we will not be overwhelmed by heavy work pressure. As an ordinary employee of Qianchuan Wood Industry, when the company is in a booming development stage, the trivial and overloaded daily work may cause us to lack a positive mindset. We are all ordinary people in this vast world, so this is not surprising. So what should we do? Complain? Stop moving forward? Of course not. Life must go on, and the sun will rise as usual tomorrow. What we should do is to quickly adjust our mindset from today, better engage in work, do our job well, and solve problems, because this is our responsibility. Work like a boss, love the company like a boss, love work like a boss, and unexpected gains may follow, realizing the true value of work and the true value of life.
